We’re dedicated to supporting young adults as they navigate their journey toward independence, while providing parents with the reassurance that help is close at hand. Our services include personalized care packages, in-person check-ins and help learning essential life skills. Like all services of The Makari Solution, MakariMoms will pave the way to joy and fulfillment by removing obstacles and creating space for what is truly important.

the mission of The Makari Solution, and my personal journey as a mother, form the backbone of MakariMoms.
As a mom whose child moved across country for college at 18, I know how challenging it can be to let go. Just ask me about the arsenal of over the counter medications and first aid supplies I purchased on move-in day! It's natural to ask yourself if you have prepared them for the "real world" and think of all the things you wish you had told them. Will they remember to wash their sheets? Know how to stretch a grocery budget? Understand how to keep their room organized? Then there are the worries. What if they get sick? Their car dies? They drop their phone in a snow bank? (All things this mom dealt with during my child's freshman year).

A MakariMom is Born 2019 College Drop-Off
You have held your child close throughout their lives and suddenly you aren't just down the hall. While a lot can be accomplished over the phone, sometimes young people (and their parents) need the comfort of a human hand. Located just two miles from the University of Oregon's main campus, I can give your student the perfect combination of TLC and LTD (Learning to Adult) and you the peace of mind that comes from knowing your student is receiving the necessary support. Specific services are listed below, but feel free to request support not listed. I will do my best to accommodate you!

Sick Visits
Being sick away from mom and dad can be scary for students and worrisome for parents. MakariMoms will bring over a box of homemade goodies, curated to your student's preferences, along with any prescriptions and necessary OTC medications. We will also provide daily phone contact to students and parents, giving everyone peace of mind until the illness passes.
Moving Services
The difficulty of moving out of the dorm for the summer is often underestimated. Students need to coordinate storage units, U-Hauls, and packing, knowing they will just have to complete the process in reverse come fall. MakariMoms can coordinate and source services, help students pack, and make the transition a little less painful.
Congratulations Celebrations!
Did your student ace a test? Land a job? Accomplish a goal? We will visit with balloons, flowers, or other gifts. Parents will receive a photo or video of the student receiving the gift so you can see their delight.
Learning to Adult
Students have a lot on their minds and frequently forget the lessons in basic home making they learned growing up. MakariMoms will teach them the basics of cleaning, laundry, meal preparation and grocery shopping. Tips on stretching the budget provided! Our group workshops are a great way to get a cost effective rate and ensure roommates are on the same page!
TLC for Tough Times
Midterms, finals and term papers can seem overwhelming, especially for Freshmen. Social challenges can be tough too, as students form friend groups and learn college norms. Let them know you are thinking of them with a delivery of essential study snacks and comfort items that remind them of home.
Information and Referral
Learning to be independent in a new city can be daunting. MakariMoms will provide a list of tips for living happily in Eugene, (including where to buy the best umbrella). Does your student need a specific service? Give us a call and we will consult our network of local providers.
